At Dawes, our people are what set us apart. Join us as we sit down with Rashi, one of our dedicated motor underwriters, to hear about her journey, passions, and unique interests.

Q. Why did you choose to work in insurance?

I’ve always wanted to work in insurance. I started out as a broker, but it wasn’t for me, as I didn’t like being the middleman. For me, underwriting feels rewarding and more of the right fit. Before joining Dawes, I was a Commercial Motor Underwriter for GT, and that really solidified my passion for this field.

Q. What is your current role and what does it entail?

I started with Dawes in June this year as a Motor Underwriter. There’s been a learning curve, however it's been really exciting. My main focus is getting familiar with the day-to-day tasks. I get to assess various risks and see how they fit with our risk appetite. I’m enjoying every moment of it, and I’m really excited to keep growing and developing.

Q. What’s your favourite thing about your job?

I love getting to know all our underwriters and learning how they think and solve different queries. It's really cool because you can ask the same question to the whole team, and everyone will have a different answer. Plus, I get to look at all the pretty cars, which is definitely a perk!

Q. What type of car do you drive, and what’s your dream car?

I drive a Hyundai Kona. It's been super reliable and has never let me down, and I absolutely love her. But my dream car is a Mercedes A45 AMG, specifically in cosmos black. The engine sounds amazing, and it’s so sleek and sporty.

Q. What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

I try to do things that don’t involve looking at a screen wherever I can. I love cooking and recently found a fantastic recipe for lamb ragu with pasta.

Reading is another passion of mine - I have a bet with my partner to finish the whole Harry Potter series before our trip to Japan next year. If I win, he’ll take me to Universal Studios!

I also really enjoy walking my dog, which is a great way to unwind and get some fresh air and exercise.

Q. Is there anything about you that people find strange?

This month’s flavour of weird is my obsession with mini brands, especially the MasterChef ones out right now. There are 11 collectibles, and I have three left to find!
